There are just no words to explain how I’m feeling right now after closing the last page of this book. No words. It was so much more than what I was expecting. The romance was exceptional but the true heart of this story left me feeling wrung out and my mind all awhirl.Meagan’s husband, Cass, died five years ago after a tragic accident. She has not moved on. She has grieved but it has not brought healing. He was the love of her life. She lost so much the day she lost him but one thing she still has is the hope to fulfill a dream they had together. So, moving from her home in Phoenix to Seaside, she sets out to renovate an old Victorian B&B.
Her first hurdle is to find a contractor. Despite the fact that everyone recommends Theo, she refuses to do so. Their interactions have been volatile and uncomfortable and it’s obvious that he hates her, without ever saying a word…because Theo doesn’t talk. When the condition of her home becomes dangerous, she has no choice but to turn to him.
Theo and Meagan’s relationship is not the stuff of lighthearted rom-coms. It is heavy and angsty and both of them are running from it for their own reasons. However, this isn’t your typical push and pull romance. Both of these characters are damaged and as the reader you will understand the reasoning behind their actions.
Written in Meagan’s point of view, with just the epilogue in Theo’s, you will experience all the love, pain and loss she feels as well at the awakening and the miracle of love reborn. I felt her struggle as well as her hope even as they blended together.
I went into this book with nothing more than the blurb to lead me and I strongly suggest you do the same. J.T. Geissinger’s talent truly knows no bounds and nothing proves it more than Theo and Meagan’s story.
Advanced reader copy provided by the author and this is my honest and heartfelt review.

Midnight Valentine edition by JT Geissinger Romance eBooks Reviews
I am a fan of Ms Geissinger's CR's and much of what is good about her writing is on display in Midnight Valentine. Megan is a likeable sassy heroine, the storyline is interesting, the writing is good and it is well edited with good grammar and few typos. There is plenty of witty romance building dialogue between H&h and the sex scenes are later in the story so the sexual tension is maintained.
My real issue with this story though (warning spoilers coming up) is that it is the HEA of Megan and her dead husband Cass, not of Megan and the hero Theo. Theo who had a life and love before his accident is simply treated by the author as a vessel for Cass's soul. Equally Theo's former love Colleen is treated to a particularly unpleasant ending - she loses Theo when he splits up with her after his accident (effectively because he is now Cass and thinks he has gone mad) and she ends up pregnant to a philandering jerk who really wants to get into Megan's pants. So I was left quite flat by the end. How can I as a reader revel in the HEA of Megan and Cass when it comes at the expense of Theo and Colleen who are not villains but a regular couple in love? I have read reincarnation stories that have been wonderful (there is a great one in Nalini Singh's Archangel series) so it is not the reincarnation storyline that is the problem for me, rather its treatment by the author.
I loved the emotions this book brought as I read the book. The tragedy these characters faced, and there struggles with reality made me cry and I sympathize with them as they questioned there sanity. The book also made me laugh at times and pray for a happy ever after.
Lately I have been reading or listening to more than my share of romances. To be honest, a lot of them are forgettable, except for some amazing authors that seem to always write a great romance. J.T. Geissinger is one of those authors and with this book, she has written a story that I won’t soon forget-if at all.
Megan is grieving the loss of the love of her life, Cass, five years previously. Because of that, she moves to Seaside, Oregon to rehab an old Victorian bed and breakfast that she and her husband had wanted to buy and eventually run. Before she even makes it to her new home, she see Theo, a forbidding man, at the local diner. He hates her on sight and she can tell. It’s inexplicable and bothers her, needless to say. When he ends up being the best of the contractors in town, she comes into contact with him almost on a daily basis. That is, when he can stand being in the same room with her. Weirdly, when they meet about what is to be done at the inn, he already has a huge notebook completed pertaining to his ideas for the project. And that’s definitely not the only thing weird going on.
The setting for this book in the small town of Seaside was extra fun for me as I once visited there on a vacation. I only spent one day there, but remember it well. So the beautiful beach setting was the first thing I personally loved about this book. Secondly, the characters were amazingly fleshed out by the author. Megan was very sad, but equally outspoken. She didn’t let much get by her and if she was unhappy with something, well then she definitely let you know. Theo was dark, brooding, and scarred from an accident years before. After the accident, he never talked again. And while the town seems to care about him and think him a good person, he has a big problem with Megan. There are a few peripheral characters that I also enjoyed, Theo’s project manager, Coop, in particular. Even he was very well drawn by the author, and I appreciated that. And last but not least, the premise. Early on you know something strange is going on between Theo and in turn, Megan. He has a major problem with her for what she thinks is no reason, and she faces that head on. She won’t allow him to dis her, but he manages to, time and again. He has his reasons, and slowly, those reasons become apparent. Well, maybe not so slowly. Also, apparent is that there’s something almost magical that has happened. And I am leaving it at that!
When I finished this book, I wished I could rate it higher than the usual 5 stars. The writing itself was just so flat out good. Geissinger does have a way with words and descriptions. Her romances are always different from the norm, and definitely not cookie cutter. And this time, she takes the romance into the metaphysical realm. Is it supernatural? Or coincidence? I’m going with supernatural. I absolutely loved the whole thing, especially the slow burn of the romance.
Highly recommended to adult fantasy romance readers and contemporary romance fans as well. Adult due to some sensual scenes. I received a copy of this from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Hauntingly beautiful book with all the feels. I laughed, i cried, i swooned, i cursed! A love story so powerful that nothing stands in its way! I loved this book! I could not put it down once I started reading.
I was having a hard time expressing how this story made me feel for this review. Here are some song lyrics that sum it up pretty well for me. ‘As much as it hurts, ain’t it wonderful to feel? So go on and break your wings. Follow your heart til it bleeds’ -End of the Dream by Evanescence
