If you and your family are anticipating taking in a rescue whether it be a Husky or any other breed, just know that like any person you encounter, each one will come with its own set of quirks that you will need to get to understand. It may take a while, but know that you are doing a great thing for this soul who needs his or her forever family. You will be rewarded with lots of joy and unconditional love from your new fur baby and will wonder how you got along with him or her. As Dr. Cheryl says, just know what you are getting into and "Be prepared".

I enjoyed reading Dr. Lentz’s book, Welcome Home. I was laughing out loud as I read some of the scenes that she describes in the book, because I’ve observed some of the same scenes in my home over the years as well. What Dr. Lentz calls running with the bulls, and others call the zoomies, we called the rips. She is correct; nothing was safe when the rips began. I just wish we had a closed in tennis court at our disposal. What a brilliant idea. I also agree with her poignant description of rescues. Having had rescues over the years, I believe she describes them and their loving ways very well.
Whether you are a new pet owner or a pet owner again, you will enjoy this book. When I chose my current pet after seven years without one, the first thing I did was reach for a book as a reminder of what to expect and what to do. This is just such a book for Siberian Husky owners. Enjoy it and your new family members . . . and remember as Dr. Lentz says, “it’s their home now too.”

Welcome Home Siberian Husky Rescue Handbook 11 Tips to Welcome a Siberian Rescue into Your Family edition by Dr Cheryl Lentz Steve Estep Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
As a small girl, little did I realize that when my dad brought home a small dog to me and my sister that was an act that would be carried out many times in my life. Corky, a small, short- legged bull dog and fox terrier mix, had to get a new home due to his fondness of chasing and catching the previous owner's chickens. I did, unfortunately, experience his hunting prowess first hand with my pet bunny. While we thought Corky was safely in the house, as soon as he saw the bunny hop across the yard, he did not stay in the house. My dad explained that it was not his fault, that he was a hunter and that is what his instincts told him to do. Poor bunny.
Strong as an ox, Corky thought playing fetch with normal balls was beneath him and would only play fetch if we threw a brick for him. Yes, a normal sized building brick. These were a couple of his quirks that we learned to live with.
Through the years I have rescued 8 dogs (two of them German Shepherds - one being the 5th great grandson of Rin Tin Tin of movie fame), 2 wild mallard ducks (a drake with a broken wing and his mate who would not leave him which were found in the middle of a highway), and 2 birds (one a sparrow with a broken wing whom I kept in a cage beside my parakeet). I have a fondness for all animals and hate to see any mistreated or abused in any way. I would not trade my time with any of my rescues for anything.
They quickly became family members and will always have special places in my heart forever. There were many times that I fell back on my dad's comment to me that 'it was not their fault, that is what their instincts told them to do' in dealing with my latest challenge.
Each came from different scenarios from having to be rehomed due to owner's health reasons, turned into a shelter because the child did not have time for him any longer, and an abusive owner who was a neighbor at the time. Each one came with his own baggage from his past, but with time, patience and lots of love, we worked out our relationships.
